About the workshop
Explore the art of basketry using hand-harvested and traditionally processed plant materials, including willow bark, cedar bark, iris leaves and daylily leaves. Learn foundational techniques for creating a plaited base, twining with soft plant fibers and plaiting bark to build the sides of your basket. Along the way, you will have the freedom to shape your design and choose the materials that inspire you. You will leave with new basketry skills, an introduction to responsible plant harvesting and a one-of-a-kind small basket made by hand.

Rose Covert is a fiber artist who works with hand-harvested plant bodies to create woven sculptures. She weaves large-scale living willow sculptures that can be walked inside of and gallery-sized work that is evocative of the living world.
