Paul Greenwood, a deputy district attorney in San Diego, has prosecuted more than 600 cases of elder abuse — physical and financial abuse alike — over the past two decades. And over the next decade, he expects elder abuse to become one of the nation’s top five social issues, he told a crowd of about 300 people gathered Wednesday at the Big Horn Resort for AARP Montana’s Operation Stop Scams conference.
