Valley Women's Voices: She is speaking to us

Valley Women's Voices: She is speaking to us

  • 0
letter to editor

She is speaking to us

But do we hear

Rolling out directives

Murky, but becoming clear

Nearly stopped in our tracks

Skies briefly pollution free

We knew it wouldn’t last

Will we ever truly see

She has talked to us forever

She will do so ever again

Trying fervently to convey

Where we are going; where we have been

We are gripped by fear

Pain and suffering abound

Force beyond our control

Who knows how long we’ll be around

She is trying hard to nurture

Many gifts she bestows each day

Still, we ask too much of her

We are learning she’ll have her way

We call destruction progress

Building goes on and on

Will we never understand

Take all for granted and soon it’s gone

She is crying out in pain

Begging us to reconsider

Collective deep breath needed

To work not at odds but with her

We are capable of many things

Good, bad, and in-between

What’s needed is humility

Seems like we aren’t so keen

She’s telling us change is coming

Perhaps it’s already arrived

Strange times we’re living in

She decides who survives

We will not have our way

And should bear this in mind

Respect for her and one another

Let us be more gentle and kind

She is speaking to us

We should stop and listen

Stop trying to dominate

It is she who finally wins
