Thanks for the great article on the 80-year history of Lost Trail ski area.
As I read it I thought the only thing missing was to tell the readers that the ski area operates entirely on the Bitterroot and Salmon National Forests – public land – your land.
Most of the ski areas in the west operate as Lost Trail does under special use permit from National Forests. The long standing partnership of the Forest Service and the ski industry provides great skiing across the country and certainly none better than our own Lost Trail, probably the most affordable ski area in the state.
