Hamilton police cited three juvenile boys for felony burglary and criminal mischief for last weekend’s vandalism at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds.
Hamilton Police Lt. Steve Snavely said the juveniles were 11, 12 and 13 years old.
Their cases will be handled through youth court.
The vandalism occurred Sunday evening inside the fairground’s Ag Barn. An electric golf cart was damaged, glass in display cases broken and a couple of table racks banged up.
Snavely said Hamilton police traced evidence found at the scene to a local store. The suspects were identified through surveillance video.
Ravalli County Fairgrounds officials decided to lock the gates at the fairgrounds evenings and weekends following the vandalism.
Fairgrounds Manager Melissa Saville said they are still totaling the cost of the damages.
“People are upset that we closed the gates,” Saville said. “They liked the idea that we were open all the time. They liked knowing that they could come and go as they pleased.”
Those hosting events at the fairgrounds are also being inconvenienced because they now have to unlock and lock the gates as they start and finish their events, Saville said.
