Bonita "Bonnie" June Shulund
Bonita "Bonnie" June Shulund, 79, passed away September 18th, 2022, at The Village Senior Residence from a long battle with Parkinson's disease. She was born May 8th, 1943, in Anaconda, Montana to Ben and Mary (Ruffatto) Carlascio. She graduated from Anaconda High School in 1961 and moved to Missoula where she met and fell in love with Lynn Shulund and had two beautiful boys before making their home in Hamilton. Even though Lynn and Bonnie dissolved their marriage when the boys were young, they remained close.
Bonnie's greatest love was her family and friends. Her pride and joy were her two sons, Cary and Kevin. Bonnie was the type of mom that was a "Mom" to all that crossed her path. From cheering on Cary and Kevin (and their numerous friends) at just about every sporting event known to man, to clipping out every newspaper article that included their accomplishments or names for that matter, to opening her home to just about anyone- Bonnie was one of the kindest, most genuine of humans.
To Bonnie, the only thing better than being a mom was when she was promoted to Grandma. It is no wonder her Granddaughters loved her so. Sleepovers at Grandma's house generally consisted of cake for breakfast, laying on the floor coloring for hours, endless supply of candy, movies, reading endless bedtime stories and all the amazing love that Bonnie had to give.
Bonnie enjoyed a long career with Ravalli County bank where she greeted everyone with her beautiful smile and kind words. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was.
It would be wrong to say that Bonnie lost her battle because she never stopped fighting even up to her final days. No matter how sick she was she was always sure to check in with everyone to ensure they were "Good". We take solace in knowing that Bonnie is finally "Good".
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Brenda Carlascio. She is survived by her sons, Cary (Lauren) Shulund of Missoula, Kevin (Kerrie) Shulund of Lolo, her beloved granddaughters- Hailey Shulund, Mariah Shulund, Madelynn Shulund, Kennedy Shulund, and Saylor Shulund, as well as her siblings Betty Thomas of Anaconda, Beverly Zeier of Anaconda, Gil (Carrie) Carlascio of Maui, HI, and Barbara (John) Ludeman of Missoula and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Big Sky Palliative & Hospice, 1900 S. Reserve street, Missoula, MT 59801.
