BUTTE – Our loving wife, mother and grandma, Elayne Dunbar, passed away in Butte on Nov. 11, 2017, surrounded by the warmth and comfort of her family.
She was born August 22, 1941, in Hamilton, Montana, second daughter of Elmo and Hazel Hess.
She married the love of her life, John Dunbar, on June 3, 1959. They have spent the past 58 years enjoying every day together.
This marriage blessed them with three children, who she loved with all her heart. They spent as much time together as a family as humanly possible. All of her grandchildren will forever treasure special memories of camping trips, her scrapbooks made with love and Christmas at Grandma’s house. None of these things will ever be the same without her.
Elayne’s Christmas shopping season began on Dec. 26, every year for the following year so she could come up with unique gifts for all.
She is survived by her loving husband John; children Rick (Carmie) Dunbar, Steve (Janice) Dunbar and Debi (Sean) Harrington; grandchildren: Jodi (Pete) Day, Devin (Jennifer) Harrington, Damon (Satie) Harrington, Justin Dunbar, Nolan Harrington and Desiree’ Dunbar; great grand-children: Angel Hand, Logan Day, Emily Day, Haylee Harrington, Dylan Harrington, Blaine Harrington, Arabella Harrington, Adelia Harrington, Emmett Harrington, and our beautiful bundle arriving in May. She is also survived by Sister Joan (Dennis) Clack and brother in law Dave Hill, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmo and Hazel Hess and stepfather Ken Osborne; her sister Gayle Hill; her grandson James Hand; in laws Ed and Josephine Dunbar; sister in law Pat Ferrlan and her husband Jim.
She will continue to live within our hearts. Her stories and laughter left us with an everlasting and unforgettable mark.
At Elayne’s request, private family services will be held.
Axelson Alternative Cremation is privileged to serve Elayne’s Family.
