CORVALLIS — Jerry David Spear, 72 of Corvallis, passed away Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020, at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital in Hamilton.
Jerry was born March 9, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Jack and Jacqueline Ash Spear. He was raised and educated in Waldron, Indiana and graduated from Waldron High School. Jerry worked at the Spears Dairy for his father and grandfather. In 1967, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was medically discharged later that year.
Jerry worked as a clerk for the Indianapolis Police Department until the early 1970s. Following his father’s death, Jerry decided to come to Montana to attend the Erv Malnarich Guide School to become a hunting outfitter. Jerry was an outfitter from 1972 through the 1980s, guiding throughout Montana and Idaho. Jerry and his wife, Libby, loved bird hunting with their Labs.
Jerry later worked in construction doing finish work until he retired. He enjoyed work at and attending gun shows for many years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher and his parents. Jerry is survived by his wife, Libby; son, Scott; and his grandchildren, Dillon and Haile; numerous aunts and cousins.
