A 43-year-old Hamilton man died Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash west of Victor.
The crash occurred about 6:30 p.m.
The man was driving a GMC pickup truck on Pleasant View Drive when he apparently lost control, left the road and his vehicle hit a tree, said Montana Highway Patrol Sgt. Scott Bennett.
He was not wearing a seat belt.
“It appears that this would have been a survivable crash had a seat belt been used,” Bennett said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
There weren’t any witnesses to the crash.
While the cause of the crash remains under investigation, Bennett said excessive speed and alcohol are both suspected.
The man’s name is being withheld until family members are notified.
