Ravalli County Democrats are hosting a non-partisan event, “Building Community in Difficult Times,” with Travis McAdam of the Montana Human Rights Network. McAdams will help explore how to have productive, calm dialogs about difficult questions.
The event will be held at the Bitterroot College Gym, 103. S. 9th St., in Hamilton from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
"We face a situation where many of our communities are divided right now. We need to understand the challenges we face and come together to address real problems. We should never underestimate the power of people coming together to do good work,” McAdam said.
McAdam has been at the forefront of efforts to strengthen Montana communities, helping them build unity and avoid extremism. For over 20 years, McAdam has sought to understand what drives extremism, what pulls people apart, and what brings them together. He has provided this advice to cities and town across Montana. His theory is to know your community, know your goals, focus on what’s working, build on strengths and work together to sustain stability.

"This is about our community. We’ve all had a tough year: COVID, masks, political differences, sick friends and relatives, school board and public health wrangling. Let’s take a deep breath, to understand our challenges, recognize our strengths and begin to chart a path forward, together," said Linda Schmitt, Ravalli County Democratic Central Committee chair.
