A Hamilton man is charged with six felony counts of incest for sexually assaulting a child over a seven-year period.
The man, 55, told the girl's mother that when he was confronted with the allegations that he'd had a “problem with sex for a long time, ever since (he) was young,” according to the charging affidavit.
When the man heard the girl had participated in a forensic interview at Emma’s House child advocacy center, he allegedly attempted to castrate himself.
The mother told an investigator she had received a voicemail September 5 from the man in which he told her he had used a calf bander to castrate himself “to fix his problem.”
A sheriff’s detective made phone contact with the man the next day, who confirmed he had attempted the operation and was going to the emergency room. The affidavit said he told the detective he would come to the sheriff's office later, but never showed up.
Ravalli County Justice Jennifer Ray set bail at $250,000.
