STEVENSVILLE - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to improve safety at the intersection of South Kootenai Creek Road and U.S. Highway 93 west of Stevensville in Ravalli County.
The project begins on U.S. Highway 93 approximately 1 mile west of Stevensville at reference post 65.88 and ends at reference post 66.10.
Proposed work includes building a separate bridge for the multi-use path to the west of U.S. Highway 93 and removing the handrail from the highway bridge which is obstructing visibility. The purpose of the project is to reduce crashes by making it easier for drivers on U.S. Highway 93 and South Kootenai Creek Road to see other cars at the intersection.
The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2021, depending on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding. No new right-of-way will be needed but utility relocations may be required.
