Corvallis Elementary School celebrated the 101st day of school with Dalmatian Thursday. Kindergarten students wore their favorite spots as they journeyed to the Corvallis Fire hall to learn all about fire prevention and other important safety tips.
They were met at the fire hall by Corvallis volunteer firefighter and EMT Becky Byrne who enthralled them with the story of Smokey Bear. Dressed in her pink coat, spotted nose and whiskers, Hunter White and her classmate Carley Woodward listen closely to all the information that Byrne had to share.
After Byrne finished reading Smokey's story, the class was delighted to see the "real" deal come walking into the room. Trenton Hallock was quick to give the big bear a hug while Ryker Jessop offered a high five and Carley Woodward waited her turn to say hi.
The best was saved for last when the class members loaded up in firetrucks and were driven back to school. Rykker Jessop couldn't have been happier about that turn of events.
