Do you have special skills or stories you would like to share? Big Hole National Battlefield in Wisdom and Bear Paw Battlefield in Chinook are looking for cultural demonstrators to share their knowledge with the public.
Big Hole National Battlefield will be holding Coyote Camp May 20-24. Coyote Camp is an exciting event where schools visit the National Park Site and learn about the Nez Perce story. Past demonstrations have included weaving, flute playing, drumming, use of native plants and many others.
Both Big Hole and Bear Paw Battlefields host a Summer Speaker Series which invites the public to learn more about Nez Perce culture through demonstrations and stories given by volunteers. The Summer Speaker Series at both locations are held on weekends between June 29 and Aug. 18.
Cultural demonstrators will be provided with housing, mileage, per diem and honorarium as a thank you for sharing their knowledge. Big Hole National Battlefield is located 10 miles west of Wisdom on Highway 43. The site is open Wednesday through Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the winter and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily in the summer.
