The Ravalli County Administrative Center will be getting a new sign after their old one was struck by a Jeep driven by an 85-year-old man Friday morning.
According to Hamilton Police Sgt Bob Liercke, the man was attempting to parallel park in front of the center when he apparently got the gas pedal mixed up with the brake. The man was not hurt in the resulting accident that occurred about 10:30 a.m.
"This is something that happens more often than you might realize," Liercke said. "Usually the damage is pretty minor. In this case, it would have been a pretty good advertisement for Jeep. His vehicle didn't sustain much damage as compared to the sign."
There was no indication the man was impaired at the time of the accident. He did not leave the scene.
