Stevensville Scarecrow Festival

"Lady Ravalli" by the Headwater Wellness Center received an artistic merit honorable mention at this year's Scarecrow Festival in Stevensville.

This year’s crop of scarecrows in Stevensville is about to disappear.

Sunday, Oct. 14 will the last day the scarecrows will remain on display.

There were 45 entries in this year’s Scarecrow Festival.

“Everyone really upped their game this year,” said one participant.

The awards were given as follows:

People’s Choice Awards:

1st Place: “Miss Autumn” by Starrett Artists and Mission Bistro

2nd Place: “Ring for the Rock” by the Lone Rock School PTM

3rd Place: “Scary Barry’s Root Canal” by Barry Yaskus Family Dental Care

Artistic Merit Awards:

1st Place: “Miss Autumn” by Starrett Artists and Mission Bistro

2nd Place: “Rust Chick” by Laura Jean Welding LLC

Artistic Merit Honorable Mentions:

“Blown Away” by EXIT Realty Bitterroot Valley

“Anxious Andy” by Western Montana Mental Health

“Working Our Fingers to the Bones at A2Z” by A2Z Personnel

“May the Books Be With You” by North Valley Public Library

“Lady Ravalli” by Headwaters Wellness Center

“Farmin’ Miranda” by Beverly Gibson

The judge’s included Montana Arts Council/SMSA Design Committee Chair Cinda Holt and visual artists Bobbie McKibbin and Loree West.

“There were so many wonderful scarecrows this year, it was hard to choose,” the committee said.

This year’s event sponsors are The Country Store, Bitterroot Star, InWrapt, Western Building Center, The Messy Apron Commercial Rental Kitchens, Super 1 Foods, Tiffany Photography, Weber & Vanorio CPAs, Fort Owen Ranch, and the Stevensville Main Street Association.
