What do you see as the biggest challenge facing your school?
While we have several big challenges facing the Florence School District currently, I believe one stands out in particular. That would be the challenge of updating and replacing the aging and failing facility while continuing to retain an excellent staff on a shrinking annual budget compounded with declining secondary enrollment.
Why is communication with the community important?
Communication with the community is pinnacle for the leadership within the school district. The school is the center of the community and it belongs to the members of the community. It exists to serve the needs of the community and as each member helps bear the financial burden of the operations of the school district, so too should each member of the community be made clearly aware of the greater parts of the district operations and goals.
Why are you the best candidate for school trustee?
I bring the approach of true impartiality to the position of school trustee. My goal as a trustee has been to listen with thoughtful consideration of the needs of our educators and our students while remaining mindful of the need for conservative long-term fiscal responsibility to ensure the future financial well being of the school district. I believe that I have demonstrated well my ability to accomplish this goal during this past year serving in the position of school trustee.
