A Darby woman faces three felony counts of child endangerment after allegedly driving drunk with three children in her car.
Cynthia Ann Bright, 27, appeared Monday before Ravalli County Justice Jennifer Ray on the felony charges and misdemeanor counts of aggravated driving while under the influence and speeding.
According a charging affidavit, a Montana Highway Patrol trooper spotted Bright’s vehicle speeding southbound on US Highway 93.
His radar indicated the vehicle was traveling 80 mph in a 60 mph zone.
After pulling Bright over, the trooper noted there were three children in the vehicle, ages 8, 7 and 5.
Bright allegedly told the trooper she was speeding because she was being followed by her ex-husband.
While speaking to Bright, the trooper noted she had watery eyes and he could smell the odor of alcoholic beverage. Bright was unable to successfully complete the standardized field sobriety test.
A preliminary breath test resulted in a .212 breath alcohol content.
In Montana, a driver is considered impaired at .08 blood alcohol content.
Ray set bail at $5,000 and required Bright to be monitored for alcohol use if released from detention.
