It is official: 15-year-old Calla Haldorson of Hamilton will compete at the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick national competition on Jan. 3.
Haldorson’s dad, Mark Haldorson, received an email from Kathleen Patterson, the USA Football NFL Punt, Pass and Kick coordinator.
“Congratulations,” Patterson noted. “You have qualified for the 2015-2016 NFL Punt, Pass & Kick national championships.”
Calla Haldorson will compete during the game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans on Jan. 3 in Indianapolis. The game will be broadcast by CBS starting at 11 a.m.
“I think I knew in my heart she would compete at nationals because she did so well,” Mark Haldorson said. “It is just really nice to get the confirmation.”

Calla Haldorson placed first at all the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competitions so far this year: one in Hamilton; the next in Missoula; and at the regional NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick competition in Seattle, where she beat the second place contender by 165 feet.
Her total at regional competition totaled 335 feet and one inch. Last year’s national champion tallied a total distance of 326.9.
At the national championships, Calla Haldorson will compete against the four highest scorers in her age division out of the 32 team regional championship events.
The rush is on for the Haldorson family as they scheduled flights, rooms and additional tickets. Calla Haldorson and one guest will receive complimentary plane tickets and game tickets.
