Ryan Porch certainly feels comfortable among the leaders at the Barnett Memorial Golf tournament. He just might not be used to being completely ahead of the pack.
Porch, last year's runner-up at the Barnett, fired a 5-under 66 in the first round of the annual tournament on Saturday. The Kalispell native holds a two-stroke lead over a group of five golfers in the A flight headed into the second day of the three-day tourney.
Last year's winner, Brian Beach, who beat Porch in each round a year ago, turned pro. That leaves the door open for Porch, who is coming off his junior season on the Idaho Vandals golf team, where he finished in a tie for second at the Big Sky Conference championships.

In the womens' H flight, Missoula sisters Sadie and Maggie Crippen are tied at 71. Sadie shot a 33 on the front 9 and a 38 on the back. Maggie went into the turn two strokes behind her sister, and knotted the score with a 36 in the final nine.
The tournament continues Sunday and concludes on Memorial Day.
