The Arizona Diamondbacks shuffled a few minor league roster, tweaking the list of Missoula Osprey before they'd played a game this season.
The D-Backs announced Monday that catcher B.J. Lopez was assigned to the Osprey ahead of the O's season opener in Helena.
Lopez joins the Osprey from Class A South Bend out of the Midwest League. The catcher played in 17 games for the Silver Hawks earlier this season and recorded 14 hits in 56 at-bats with 11 RBI.
The Moca, Puerto Rico, native previously played for the Arizona League D-Backs in both 2012 and 2013. Lopez raised his rookie season average from .071 to .255 in his second year in the AZL.
Missoula now has three catchers on its roster. Lopez joins Yosbel Gutierrez and Grant Nelson, both players with previous experience in Missoula.
In an unrelated move, right-handed pitcher Eric Brooks was transferred to Class AAA Reno, where me makes his first career Pacific Coast League roster.
Missoula began its season with a three-game series against the Helena Brewers on Monday. The Birds' home opener comes Thursday against Great Falls at Ogren-Allegiance Park.
