Pairings for the Western A, B and C divisional boys' and girls' basketball tournaments have been finalized with the completion of challenge games on Monday night.
The Western A -- which combines the Southwest A and Northwest A -- tips off first on Wednesday at the Butte Civic Center. The boys will get things started at 11 a.m. when Corvallis meets Columbia Falls. Top-seeded Dillon, 16-2 overall, won't get into action until Thursday when the Beavers face the winner of the Corvallis-Columbia Falls game.
The girls' portion of the tournament tips off at 12:45 p.m. when Stevensville and Polson square off. Butte Central brings a spotless 18-0 record into the tournament as the top seed.
The Western B Divisional for both boys and girls begins Thursday at Kalispell's Flathead High School. A pair of 19-1 teams, Florence and defending state champion Bigfork, bring the top seeds into the boys' tournament. On the girls' side, Ronan (18-2) and Bigfork (16-4) are the top seeds. The first of eight games tips off at 8 a.m.
Hamilton will again be the gathering spot for Class C teams for the Western Divisional. A pair of play-in games are scheduled for Wednesday evening. The Charlo girls will face White Sulphur Springs at 5:30 p.m. and the Hot Springs boys take on White Sulphur Springs at 7 p.m.
The girls tip off divisional play first when Drummond faces Manhattan Christian at 9 a.m. on Thursday. District 14-C champion Plains (18-2) faces Ennis at 10:30 a.m. and District 13-C champ Seeley-Swan (20-1) takes on the play-in game winner at 4:45 p.m.
District 14-C champ Arlee (20-1) and District 13-C champ Valley Christian (20-1) have to be regarded as among the favorites on the boys' side.
