SUNNYVALE, CA. — Tina Rae Modine, 61, of Sunnyvale, California, passed away Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at the El Camino Hospital from heart complications, while comforted by her husband Errol and friend Mel Bast.
She was born Sept. 13, 1956, in Billings, Montana, the daughter of the late Earle E. and Lucelle E. Philips.
Tina grew up in Billings and Hamilton, Montana. She graduated from Hamilton High School in 1973. She attended the Helena Vocational Tech College.
She met the love of her life, Errol Modine, and they were married on July 10, 1976, in Helena. Their marriage was one of great joy, love and closeness.
She and her husband lived in Helena and Kalispell for a few years before moving to her beloved California in 1979. She had several treasured Pomeranian “kids” and each one, Trinket, Shadow, Sweetie, Sugar Bear, Dymond, Xtal and Sapphyre, were SO loved by her. She loved gardening, helping others, family, her pets, her homes, her friends, music, art, animals, the beach and anything in the sunshine. She modeled successfully for a few years and left us with several treasured photographs. Tina was very outgoing and made friends everywhere she went. She was fun to be around and would do anything for anyone, if she could. Tina was a generous spirit and always showered her loved ones with abundant gifts, including a Pininfarina sports car as a surprise for her husband!
Tina had many health struggles through the years but managed to keep a positive attitude most of the time and was an inspiration to any one who knew her. She had a great sense of humor and she and her husband could always find reasons to laugh. Together they were a joy to be around. Her loving spirit will be missed by all those who were lucky enough to know her.
Tina is survived by her husband, Errol of Sunnyvale; her brother Earl Philips and wife Karen of Hamilton; her sister Mary Guse and husband Ron of Helena; her niece Caryn Guse of St. Paul Minnesota; her nephew Daryl Guse and wife Debbie of Helena; and several great-nieces and nephews. Tina also is survived by her brother-in-law James Modine of Billings; and her sister-in-law Vickie Modine of Scobey. Tina was preceded in death by her parents, Earle and Lucelle Philips; mother-in-law Mildred Modine; her father-in-law James; brother-in-law Jerome; and her great-nephew Logan Guse.
A memorial to celebrate Tina’s life was held Thursday, March 3, 2018, at the home of her friend Julie Mason in Sunnyvale California. Burial will follow at a later date at the Riverview Cemetery in Hamilton.
The angels carried her home and her spirit is free to soar forever!
