Break out the downhill boards -— the Lost Trail Powder Mountain opens for the ski season Friday.

Owner Judy Grasser said the lodge opens at 9 a.m. and the Chair 1 lift will start running at 9:30 a.m.

We’re doing just one lift tomorrow, but need just a tiny bit more snow to get Chair 2 open,” Grasser said Thursday. “We hope that will be coming online this weekend.”

She notes that typically they open around the first week of December, but “this year Mother Nature has been nice to us” and they got the snow a little early.

“We are excited to be opening early and hoping for a great season,” Grasser said.

The base at the summit, and the lodge, is 22 inches after a total of 42 inches has fallen so far this season. As of 4 p.m. Thursday, it was snowing at the ski hill.

Five trails will be open. Grasser said they’ll offer discounted tickets — the usual adult price is $36 — but she declined to say how much of a discount just in case they get the additional chair open and decide to stick to the regular ticket price.

“It’s looking really good,” she said.

Lost trail will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday and holidays. They'll be open every day between Dec. 22 through Jan. 2.
