The Ravalli Republic incorrectly reported in the Pets for Vets story on Friday a quote by Ladonna Harkins in which she said the "The ADA law doesn't have specific rules for service dogs; all they say is 'They need good obedience.'"

In fact, under the Americans with Disabilities Act, a service animal is defined as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. The task(s) performed by the dog must be directly related to the person’s disability.

The Ravalli Republic regrets the error.
