Yellowstone grizzlies
DAVID GRUBBS

Managing grizzly bears in the Greater Yellowstone Area now that the animals have again been delisted will take up a majority of the meeting of the Yellowstone Grizzly Coordinating Committee when it gathers on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at Chico Hot Springs.

The many facets of management of a delisted population are dictated by the Conservation Strategy, a key document crafted as part of the plan used to recover grizzlies. The strategy will direct the agenda for much of the meeting as well as how the states of Idaho, Montana and Wyoming will move forward with management of this recovered population of grizzly bears.

The meeting will start at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, and should be finished around noon on Friday, Dec. 1.

Mike Volesky, deputy director at Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, will be chairing the meeting. Public comment will be taken just before the meeting adjourns on Dec. 1.
