Florence County Water and Sewer District
As a resident, landowner, taxpayer and interested party, I believe it should be made more public that the board of directors of the Florence County Water and Sewer District are acting in a questionable, if not illegal manner.
I challenge all residents and taxpayers of the district to be alert to these actions and to attend the board meetings. The agenda for the meeting is only posted in one location, the Post Office. So watch the announcement board carefully.
Meetings are not held on a regular basis as required by law.
Reimbursements to the board president are being made without a policy in place listing the costs that are eligible for reimbursement of the amount of reimbursement for each cost. The public is being restricted from public participation in decisions by the board by being ruled “out of order” with no basis of Robert’s Rules of Order.
And, in my mind, the biggest violation of all manner of common sense, this board of which a majority fought against the construction of a wastewater collection, storage and treatment plant, has amassed almost $14,500 of your money, taxpayers of the district! Why?
Come to the board meetings and ask the board questions on these issues.
A resident of the Florence County Water and Sewer District for over 20 years.

Library and internet access
The letter from Jenny about the public library should be a warning shot to parents that don’t know that libraries are no longer safe places for children and families.
In a library in the Midwest the EEOC ruled that a library there that allowed uncontrolled access to the internet was not a safe working place for women.
The fact they even carry child pornography and the worst of the worst obscenity, unblocked, on the computers at the library should tell us something important. It used to be that librarians purposely went out of their way to make sure the material in the libraries were up to certain standards.
Before the internet, for example, libraries did not carry Playboy, Penthouse or Hustler - all considered “soft core” pornography. They didn’t come anywhere close to carrying obscene materials.
Because the library boards have been taken over by the liberals who look to the ACLU for their legal guidance the libraries have lowered their fare to just above the category of an “adult bookstore.” In fact several libraries in Montana and nationwide have moved towards building “privacy booths” around the internet computers so that someone who is viewing porn can go ahead and masturbate. Many instances of such activity have been reported in libraries.
Even sex offenders can legally view such material in libraries and the ACLU directs the libraries to believe that there is nothing that they can do about such a problem because of “free speech.” Of course the official position of the ACLU, as reported to the Meese Commission and in court papers, is that once child pornography is made it should be allowed to be displayed and sold in your local grocery store.
Parents should consider whether they or their children are in danger if a person is viewing photos and movies of women being raped or children being molested and becoming aroused to such material while they are in the library.
The solution to this problem is for good people to get involved on library boards and for governments to with-hold funds as long as the library is the “adult bookstore” of the county like it is in Ravalli County.

Wolves and elk numbers
I was so frustrated reading your story dated June 10 “Bitterroot elk numbers down.”
Most of us in the Bitterroot know why the elk numbers are down. The wolves are not only taking a toll on the elk but also the mule deer population.
It’s sad that the game department must be so politically correct and watch every word they say not to offend the environmentalist. America was founded on democracy. Let the local public take a vote on the wolf problem. Show them the research on how much the wolf program has cost us taxpayers (from the onset to present).
I’m sure it’s a lot and the general public would be shocked. I live on the west side of Victor and have seen the helicopters hazing the Brooks Creek pack back into the mountains. How much is that costing us?
The reimbursement of lost livestock, the misuse of our court system, the biologist/technology costs, collaring and monitoring, etc, etc., etc. I ask that you do an article on how much this is costing the taxpayers and then have a public vote in the states the wolves are running out of control (Montana, Idaho, Wyoming).
Last, I let the public know that these wolves are not native to the Rockies, they were bred and planted thanks to the environmentalist. We spend so much money on these wolves rather than using the funds for more important needs such as helping our brothers and sisters that have lost their jobs. I wish they all would move back to Berkeley or Seattle and take their wolves with them.
